The popular South Korean car company, Kia Motors, has a long history of expansion and growth. Kia originally started as a manufacturer for bicycle parts in 1944. Since then, the company has expanded their operations to include trucks and cars.
Now, the Kia brand is known all over the world, and has its Canadian headquarters located in Mississauga, Ontario.
The Forte and Soul are among Canada’s bestselling vehicles of 2020, according to GoodCarBadCar.net. On the strength of Kia’s characteristic affordability, safety and design, both the Forte and Soul won multiple awards in 2020.
The Soul, a four-door hatchback, was as a 2020 Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) . Because the safety rating of the vehicle you own helps determine the premiums you pay, the Soul is usually a relatively cheap car to insure.
The Forte is also a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS. It comes as a hatchback, sedan or coup. While the Soul and Forte are fairly evenly matched in their engine sizes, transmissions and horsepower, the Forte has a slighter higher MPG fuel economy. This makes the Forte a little less fuel efficient overall, but it is similarly cheap to insure.
Among the top 10 best selling cars in Canada, the Kia Soul was the cheapest to insure, while the Forte finished sixth.
