About Economical Insurance

Economical Insurance was founded in Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario, in 1871, by a group of citizens wanting to help their neighbours during times of disaster. At the time, it was called the Economical Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

By purchasing companies such as Langdon Insurance, Western General and Perth Mutual, Economical Insurance is able to offer home, car, group, business and agricultural insurance.

It serves more than one million Canadians through national independent brokers, and with a digital direct brand called the Sonnet Insurance Company.

Economical Insurance prides itself on outstanding customer service. It has a 92 percent customer satisfaction score in post-claim surveys.

Great service

Economical wants to make sure that along a great insurance rate, you’re also getting great service! It offers 24-hour emergency assistance and, once you call in a claim, an approved contractor or repair facility will get to work right away. You can get an on-site car rental pick-up at a Certified Economical Repair Facility and there’s a lifetime guarantee (while you own the car) on repairs to your vehicle.
