London Life Insurance Company is an Ontario-based insurer with its home in London, Ontario. Its history spans over a century; founded in 1874, the company is now led by D. Allen Loney (President/CEO) and Paul A. Mahon (President/COO). London Life Insurance Company is controlled by Great-West Life Assurance Company. The recent acquisition stirred the insurance water considerably.

The London Life Insurance Company is a Canadian life insurance company best known for its “Freedom 55” slogan, which evokes saving money to an extent that would allow one to retire at age 55. London Life is a part of Great-West Life co-subsidiary. The Great-West Life Assurance Company, which in turn is controlled by the Power Corporation. Great-West Life Co. owns 100% of The Great-West Life Assurance Company. Power Corporation owns 72% of Great-West Life co, the only one of those finance companies to be a member of the TSX Composite Index.
