Canadians who shop online now have the option to open an Amazon Rewards MasterCard. The new card is the product of a partnership between Amazon, MasterCard and TD Bank.

Mike Strauch, Country Manager for Amazon, announced in a public statement, “We are really excited to launch a new credit card that rewards our customers on all their purchases at Amazon.ca, Whole Foods Market stores in Canada, and everywhere else”.

“As our Amazon Canada customers would expect from us, the Amazon.ca Rewards MasterCard offers great everyday rewards and value to shoppers”, he added.

The card features an introductory offer for all new cardholders:

  • Five percent cash back on purchases at Amazon.ca, Whole Foods Market stores, grocery stores and restaurants in Canada. The offer lasts for the first six months or up to a total of $3,000 in eligible purchases.

Prime or Non-Prime?

Amazon MasterCard will provide 2.5 percent cashback to all eligible prime members on eligible purchases at Amazon.ca, Whole Foods Market stores, and foreign currency transactions after the welcome offer.

Non-Prime members will get 1.5 percent cash back on eligible purchases at Amazon.ca and Whole Foods Market stores in Canada.

No Fee Attached

The card comes with no annual fee and there is also no expiration to the points earned.

Once the MasterCard accumulates 2,000 points, they are automatically redeemed into a $20 Amazon.ca gift card.

The Rewards Card also offers:

  1. 90-day purchase assurance coverage
  2. Easy paperless billing
  3. Online Account management
  4. Instant approval
  5. Points that don’t expire
  6. One percent cash back on foreign currency transactions.

Amazon says customers can apply online now and those approved can start using their card right away on the online retailer.
